A gas flow is then generated at a predetermined rate through the elastic sleeve and through the filter rod encapsulated therein, the pressure difference between the flow of gas entering and the flow of gas leaving the filter rod is measured, and the circumference of the substitute profile of the elastic sleeve is also measured.
